What the definition phase asks of the Symphony team

Share of each person’s working time over 10 weeks. Each person has a maximum number of days, agreed before the work starts.

The business owners of the first connections to move give up to 1.5 days each. Symphony people answer questions, check what has been found and take the decisions. The external delivery team does the detailed work.

What the definition phase produces

One costed evidence pack, ready for the November budget round. It contains:

  • A checked map of every connection between Symphony’s systems and what depends on what
  • The Oracle v12 to v19 boundary and the safe ways to reach Oracle data
  • The first connections to move (in order, with the rules for accepting each one)
  • The target design and the choice of platform to test
  • The costed roadmap and value case for each later stage

What this shows in detail

  1. Some connections can only move after a date in Symphony’s plan. The definition phase confirms which ones. Two are already known. Oracle connections move to the integration layer only after the Oracle v12 to v19 cutover in mid 2027. The platform foundations must be ready before the later Zoho phases (WorkDrive Phase 4 and Books Phase 2) so nothing is built twice.

Symphony’s approved plan always comes first

None of the dates in Symphony’s approved plan change because of this work. If the integration layer work ever needs the same Symphony people at the same time as Symphony’s own plan, or needs to go live inside one of Symphony’s protected go live windows, Symphony’s plan keeps its dates and the integration layer work waits.
